Ready, Set, Design: How to Speed Up Your Project Timeline with Kaiko Design

When someone is considering starting an interior design project, they often ask me how long the process will take. I always give them a rough estimate, but it's important to understand that every project is different and timelines can vary. So lets look at some simple ways to give your designer a tighter brief which should speed up the process.

Before you start looking for an interior designer

Make a list of questions you want answered.

Create a vision board with photos and ideas

Get financially ready

Once you have a clear idea of how you want your home or business to look or function its time to sort out your financials. This is important as some items may not be possible. So much time can be saved by having a clear picture of how much you want to spend. "There is no budget" might seem like a fun response but inevitably once materials are specified and drawings are completed and sent for pricing, hours can be spent re specifying because materials are too expensive. It doesn't matter what the budget is, it just needs to be clearly defined. You can read more about our Pre-renovation checklist here.

Let the design begin

Once you have confirmed your working budget, its time to start the actual design process. First step is to have a consultation with your designer to properly explore your vision and how it will come to life. From here a process of presentations, sketches and detailed documentation will follow, you can read about the process we use at Kaiko Design here.
